Going to BU tonight?
only relevant for UK friends, sorry ... Are you going to BU tonight? I was planning to be there, but feel as if I have a cold coming on. Marjorie was also feeling a bit poorly this morning, so may not make it either. I do remember though that back in September I was contacted by Haydn and Janeen, an American couple travelling in the UK who wanted to meet poly people. They couldn't make it for the Poly meetup group last Tuesday and we felt the best way was for them to come to BU. If you see them, do welcome them and make them at home please, and introduce them to other poly folks! If I don't make it and they ask for me, perhaps someone could give my apologies and say I'm not well? I'm supposed to be singing on Saturday so I want to nip this in the bud, whatever it is! A filmmaker writes ..
I got this message on OkCupid asking for input on polyamory for something that sounds like it might become a documentary one day ... How many of you got the same message ? Every heard of this company ? what do you think ? My instinct is to be okay giving her some general pointers but nothing at all personal. ( The message ) Their profile on OkCupid is UKFilm-maker. Crossposting this quite a bit, apologies if it shows up multiple times. Current Mood: cautious | | Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 | 11:15 pm [mandrake91]

London Hate Crime Vigil on Oct 30th
A candlelight vigil will take place in London's Trafalgar Square on October 30th to honor Ian Baynham a gay man who was murdered. Baynham, 62 was walking with a friend when he was attacked. Homophobic hate crimes have been on the rise in London, just a few days after this attack a lesbian couple was attacked by a group of men. The complaints by the gay community is that little is being done to prevent homophobic hate crimes, police response is inadequate, and that the public at large needs to be made aware of whats going on. Candlelight vigil and moment of silence: October 30th Trafalgar Square 8-10 PM info@17-24-30.com http://queersunited.blogspot.com/2009/10/london-hate-crime-vigil-on-oct-30th.html | | Sunday, February 15th, 2009 | 3:46 am [friend_of_tofu]

LGBT History Month: Events in London
I have been somewhat involved in organising a few LGBT History events for this month in Central London, so here are some of the upcoming activities. The B & T will definitely be represented! EVENTS IN FEBRUARY Sun 15th Feb, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm - "Drunkenness Relieved By Lechery: a historic walk through Westminster, St James' Park & Covent Garden." Join your guide alextiefling for an exploration of some notable figures in and around the corridors of power. From William Rufus to Radclyffe Hall, from the Houses of Parliament to the Vere Street Brothel, come and discover the secret life of Westminster. Meet outside Lillywhite's on the corner of Piccadilly Circus for a 1:30 departure. This walk is fully accessible except for a single passageway - if you have accessibility needs, please email your guide at lgbthistorywestminster@googlemail.com and they will happily assist you. The walk will last for 90-120 minutes and is just over 3 miles long. It finishes very close to Temple tube station. Tues 17th Feb, 12 noon - 2pm - "Drunkenness Relieved By Lechery". Another opportunity to attend the Westminster history walk, for those with long lunchbreaks! Details otherwise as above. Wed 18th Feb, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm - "Drunkenness Relieved By Lechery". An evening's version of the Westminster history walk. Fri 20th Feb, 6:30 pm - 8 pm - "London is Itself the Nation". An evening's tour around the National Portrait Gallery, discussing images of some of the figures featured on the history walks. Expect to hear about James I, George Villiers, Queen Anne, John Wilmot, Anne Seymour Damer, Siegfried Sassoon and many more. Meet in the front lobby of the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin's Lane (nearest station: Charing Cross or Embankment) for a 6:30 pm start. Booking is not required, but it would be helpful for the gallery staff if you wish to indicate intention to attend, and numbers. This is a separate event from the history walks and can be enjoyed on its own, although attending one of the earlier walks is recommended and, indeed, encouraged. Thu 26th Feb, 6 pm - 10 pm - "Sodom, or The Quintessence of Debauchery". A readthrough of the Earl of Rochester's infamous, explicit play, organised by the lovely mirrorshard & sashagoblin. Dress up, take part and recite the immortal words of the great libertine. Amusingly-shaped vegetable props welcome. Arrive from 5:30 pm at the Regent Street campus building of the University of Westminster: front reception should direct you to the correct room. More events may be arranged later, including more history walks if there is sufficient demand. Please email lgbthistorywestminster@googlemail.com for any questions, requests or suggestions. Please feel free to advertise these events to any interested party. E-flyers can be supplied on request. All events mentioned above are free to attend. (x-posted a bit. Feel free to do that elsewhere if you think I'm missed anywhere) | | Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 | 5:06 pm [peachy_emily]

LGBT HIstory Month: London Events
Hi all, I just posted this to my own journal, but an reposting it here for people who don't know/read me. My own entry is public, so you can respond there or here. "OK folks. Some of you may know that I am now my union's branch LGBT officer. As part of my new role, and also my general busybodying, I (along with a committee, of course) am getting involved in organising some events in Central London for LGBT History Month in February. Goddamit, I'm going to get the B & the T in this year if it kills me. Some of these events have already been fully organised, and all you need to do is TURN UP!! All of the events are FREE!! Some of them are still open for input, so I'm going to suggest some ways you could get involved below, if you fancy. Events and activities( fuller details and opportunities for YOU to get involved under the cut )Summary- LGBT History Walks throughout Westminster, Whitehall & Covent Garden, throughout February - evening tour of National Portrait Gallery, probably Thu 12th Feb - poster display about LGBT figures in Westminster, in Westminster public buildings throughout February - LGBT History Month speaker event at University of Westminster, Thu 26th February - readthrough of 'Sodom, or The Quintessance of Debauchery', *probably* at the University of Westminster, Thu 26th February [OVER 18S ONLY] - a possible 'open day' event in Westminster Council buildings, date in February TBA, but would be a weekday. So????? Interest, thoughts? Anyone wanting to get involved, just let me know - by PM if you don't want to make it public, or ask for my email if you'd prefer." | | Thursday, October 30th, 2008 | 8:52 am [nitoda]

London Polyamory Meetup November 4th 2008
A note to inform anyone who isn't on the Meetup group site that we've moved the venue for November's meetup. It will be held at Penderel's Oak, on the ground floor (wheelchair accessible, I'm told), towards the back. The address of the pub is: 283-288 High Holborn, WC1V 7HP London WC1V 6 020 7242 5669 The meetup is scheduled to start at 7:30pm. So far there are 13 Yes RSVPs on the site and a bunch of Maybes. I have a new baby Jabber (beanie parrot) thanks to M and it's small enough to fit into a handbag so shouldn't get lost on the way home this time. ;-) If there's room and I can get away with it I may give it some flying lessons in the pub. | | Friday, October 10th, 2008 | 10:54 am [booklectic]

Poly-er than thou game
While I was in London this past spring, someone told me about a really fantastic game they had played at Poly Day or some similar event. It was called polyer than thou (iirc) and involved betting chips and guessing how many people had done something, or who had had the best or worst experience, or somesuch like that. I'm planning on running an adapted version of the game at PolyCamp Ontario, and I'm hoping: (1) To get more info on how the game is run, what was good about it, and what was bad, and (2) To find out who invented the game so that I can give them credit. Thanks in advance! Current Mood: busy | | Saturday, August 9th, 2008 | 2:53 pm [vampwillow]
